The next Council meeting is
Tuesday 24th September- Ordinary Council meeting.
Welcome to the Redmire Parish Council website. We hope you will find it both informative and useful.
Our Parish Council is the first level of local government. We are here to serve and represent our community. We do our best to further the interests of our community in our dealings with higher authorities such as North Yorkshire Council, often being your first point of contact in such matters. We are also responsible for the care and maintenance of areas that come under our direct authority, mainly but not exclusively, the Village Greens.
The Council also has the power to raise money through taxation, the precept. The precept is the Parish Council’s share of the council tax. The precept demand goes to the billing authority, North Yorkshire Council, which collects the tax for the Parish Council.
Our Parish Council is formed of 5 volunteer Councillors who each serve a four-year term. Details of individual councillors can be found on the Councillors page.
We hold meetings approximately every six weeks. Usually on a Tuesday night at 7.30pm. in the village Hall. All members of our community are welcome to attend these meetings and we usually start with a ten minute “Public Speaking” time where members of the public can make comments or ask questions. We also hold an Annual Meeting of the Parish Council in May when the Chairman is elected for the coming year. The date of the next meeting can be found when the draught minutes of the previous meeting are published. The date will also appear when the meeting Agenda is published. Both of these documents can be found on the Agendas & Minutes page and posted in the Parish Council noticeboard on the Bus shelter.
